Just a little break down.
As you know i am a sophomore in The Charles School (TCS). TCS is a charter school meant for first generation college teens. I will be attending TCS for four more years (counting this year). The reason I will be here for a total of five years (counting last year) is because it is an accelerated program, so the student attend high school classes for two years, our third year is then a mixture of high school and college classes, and finally our last two years are just college classes. With TCS the students will graduate with a high school diploma, and a associates degree from Ohio Dominican University. TCS does not got by the regular pass your classes then you pass the grade system, TCS is trying to prepare us for college so at the end of each quarter we are assessed for a gateway. When we get assessed for a gateway our Dean of students (Mr. McMullen, math teacher and Dean) will look through our records and talk with us to see if we have had any suspensions or detentions, check if we are passing all of our classes, and a few other things depending on what they have us do with our advisory groups. Now if a students is not passing all classes, or has had a suspension then they can NOT pass the gateway. Some people may see gateways as confusing or not the right choice for high school students, but in my opinion the gateways are great, they make sure the students are doing everything they need to be doing and the gateways keep the students on the right track. That is pretty much what my school is, thanks for reading! <3>
